'Iron Man' Bank Robber, Accomplice Still at Large

A man in an Iron Man mask is still on the run after robbing the San Clemente Citibank on Camino de la Estrella.

The FBI is releasing no further details this week about their progress investigating a bank robber in an Iron Man mask who took over a San Clemente Citibank May 2.

The robber, a masked man in a hooded sweatshirt carrying a silver revolver, entered the bank on the 500 block of Camino de la Estrella at about 1:45 p.m. and demanded that everyone put their hands in the air, which classifies the crime as a takeover-style robbery, said FBI Spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.

Surveillance footage shows the robber taking off in a white Toyota pickup truck he had parked in an adjacent gas station heading onto the I-5 freeway. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Eimiller said witnesses described the robber as a white male, 5’10”, thin build, in his 20s or 30s. He got in the passenger side of the pickup, so agents are also on the lookout for an accomplice, she said.

Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the robber is asked to call the FBI in Southern California at 714-939-8699.
