Owner of Mauled Retriever Seeks Pit Bull Restrictions in San Clemente

Tim Frawley, the dog's owner who was also injured in the attack, said the pit bulls' owners paid the $6,000 vet bill.

A golden retriever mauled by two loose pit bulls on the San Clemente Beach Trail last week is home recovering after the pits' owners paid a $6,000 vet bill, the dog's owner said.

"Charlie is getting better," said Tim Frawley of Laguna Niguel. "He's got all the gadgets and everything -- he's got one of those collars."

Frawley and two people sustained minor injuries in the attack. He said the pits' owner apologized and went to the San Clemente Vet Hospital Sunday to pay the bill.

The pit bulls, after the attack, were treated for injuries sustained as Frawley and bystanders attempted to pull the dogs off Charlie. They were then taken to the San Clemente-Dana Point Animal Shelter to be housed.

Frawley said he was meeting with San Clemente Mayor Bob Baker and would attend the next city council meeting in an attempt to get the San Clemente City Council to enact an ordinance to put restrictions on pit bulls in the city.

"I want to be on the agenda for people to see," Frawley said. "I'm going to try to go through the City Council to see where that goes."

What do you think? Should San Clemente enact restrictions on the pit bull breed?
