In honor of the Hurley Pro, the San Clemente Skate and Surf Open and the Surf Music and Art Festival, we found a video from seminal local surf rock band Honk.
In fact, members of Honk were slated to play at Saturday's festival.
Honk's first album was the soundtrack to the surf film classic Five Summer Stories. The band went on to make several more albums before breaking up in 1975. Since then, the group has gotten together for many reunion performances, according to its website.
Honk even released a live album recorded right here in Orange County called Honk, Live at the Coach House.
The video posted above is "Circles in Sand."
Enjoy!

I saw Honk a number of times at Zachariah's, the "coffee house" that the basement of the science building at Cal State Fullerton turned into each weekend. I can still see all the saxophones sitting next to one another in a row on stage. Good times!

There's nothing like the total happiness and freedom as a youth while surfing good waves. Similar, I remember the last day of shop class at Oak in 73' that Mr Baxter let us watch "On Any Sunday". For me, this feeling of freedom was memorable, (38 years later I can still remember it), and this video and music brought it back.
