I find more and more, that people - especially young(er) people - in our society, have zero ideaRead Moreabo ut where things come from. They have no idea about where their hamburger comes from, or their dairy products, or their water - "It comes from a faucet in my house, duh!" They have seen SO much junk television that to see faucet water being set on fire is just one more "trick", and has no personal link for them beyond entertainment. The dumbing down of America makes it impossible for the common person to react properly to actual threats

I am also amazed by how few adults in Southern California have any idea how to conserve water--theRead Morew ater that comes from the north and that allows so many people to live in a natural desert landscape. Not only does fracking waste water, loopholes in the 2005 federal Energy Policy Act allow money hungry corporations to ignore safe drinking water acts. Let's hope California passes the proposed moratorium on fracking and cities move to ban it.

I sold many of my old LPs at Port of Sound records in Costa Mesa. Got $350 bucks for them. MindRead Morebogg ling people (99% of whom are hipsters who try really hard to look like they're not trying really hard) actually go through the hassle of listening to vinyl. The signal to noise ratio is less than FLAC or high quality (320) MP3 and the "listening experience" is all in the mind - pretending to be back in the 1970s.

I'm so cheap, I mail a letter for two cents: I stick a two cent stamp on the envelope and switchRead Morethe sender and recipient addresses. The post office sees the insufficient postage and "Returns to Sender" - which is where I wanted the letter to go in the first place.
