The cost of driving Orange County's four toll roads will increase Tuesday.

The rates will increase by one to five cents for FasTrak customers on the 133, 241 and 261 toll roads, and by four to 60 cents on the 73 toll road, depending on the location and time of travel.

The largest increase is the peak hour rate on state Route 73, the agencies said, with the toll rising 10 percent for the Catalina View Mainline Toll Location.

The agencies define peak hour as 8-9 a.m. northbound, and 5-6 p.m. southbound.

These are private roads built with tax payers taxes. If I paid for the road why should I be charged to use it? Very similar to a Fire Department ambulance ride, if my taxes pay for the ambulance and the goon driving the ambulance's salary why do I have pay for a ride in the ambulance. As far as citations on a toll road ! If I'm cited for using the toll road via a camera and don't pay the citation how can the government issue a warrant for me ? When a police officer makes you sign a citation its not an admission of guilt its a promise to appear. Therefore if I never promised the camera to appear in court then how did I fail to appear in court. THIS IS ANOTHER PERFECT EXAMPLE OF A LIBERAL STATE THAT TAXES THE FAT POCKETS TO GIVE TO THE USELESS NON-WORKING NON-TAX PAYING DEMOCRAT! DISGUSTING ! Liberal PUKES !

I was with you til you made it about democrats .. All people involved with this road are republicans . The entire TCA.

I agree. This issue is neither a Republican nor Democratic issue. The Toll Roads is now owned by the State of California. My original post indicated that it was only a semi-private entity. I researched a little, and that changed some time ago- my apologies. This is unfortunately a Government-as-a-whole issue. Just about every Government "service" my father enjoyed as a benefit of paying taxes has evaporated in CA. Those Government services are now either privatized (and cost money) or are fee'd to death (don't call them taxes). We Californians have allowed this. We are asleep at the wheel and have allowed unscrupulous politicians to guide us down a dark path in the pursuit of their own individual wealth. Wake up and VOTE. The last O.C. voter turnout was abysmal (24%), and most of the voting was by MAIL (17%)! Good luck verifying all of those mailed in votes. So, apathy is the real criminal here in my opinion. Not political parties.
