Art and Wine Keeps Boys & Girls Engineering

Dozens of programs at the San Clemente Boys & Girls Club will keep running with help from the Exchange Club's Art Auction.

About a dozen grade-schoolers learned the basics of engineering at the San Clemente Boys & Girls Club Friday.

They built and tested rockets, recording their trajectories and the effects that different weights and materials had upon their flights -- a crucial process in the sciences.

Engineering Adventures is one of dozens of educational programs offered by the club, a non-profit that runs, in large part, from community donations.

That's why the Exchange Club of San Clemente and Casino San Clemente are partnering to host the second annual Art for Kids' Sake auction and wine-tasting event April 21.

The Casino is hosting the event, which will feature art from dozens of local artists and top-flight wine, beer and light fare from Jay's Catering, the Cellar and Hangar 24 brewery. Art from talented local San Clemente Art Association artists will be on the block as award-winning blues and jazz artists, croon for the crowd courtesy of Farmers & Merchants Bank.
