Fans of UCLA football's Saturday opponent are also rallying to support the foundation set up in the memory of Nick Pasquale, the Bruin freshman and San Clemente High graduate who died this weekend in San Clemente.
The Californians for Nebraska Board of Directors voted this morning to donate the proceeds of this week’s opportunity drawings at its official watch sites to the Nick Pasquale Foundation, reported the membership chairman of the club.
"The money that Californians for Nebraska raises during the year normally goes to fund our own CFN Scholarship Fund to send California kids to UNL [University of Nebraska - Lincoln]," said Mike Zeis. "We hope to get participation not only from Nebraska fans but anyone watching the games at these venues."
San Clemente's OC Tavern has been one of the club's hubs for watching Nebraska games, Zeis said.
"The owner of the OC Tavern, Mike Merrigan, is donating 20 percent of sales to the Foundation during the game. Mike has been a big supporter of CFN since opening the OC Tavern six years ago even though he is a Notre Dame fan," Zeis said.
"We want to do anything we can to help support Nick’s family and friends during a really tough time in their lives and we really don’t care which team you root for on Saturdays," he added.
