Families Honor Veterans at San Clemente's Community Center
Hundreds came Monday to hear the stories of previous servicemen and remember lost loved ones at the Community Center.
Hundreds came to the San Clemente Community Center on Monday to celebrate Memorial Day and remember those fallen or serving abroad.
Parents quieted children and those in the militia stood in somber, respectful silence as veterans took the stage to recount their time overseas, recollect lost friends, and lead the audience in singing “God Bless America.”
The hour-long presentation featured Lt. Col. Carlton W. Hasle as a key speaker along with Mayor Jim Evert. Both enumerated their praise for the dedication and sacrifices of servicemen.

Bonsall’s Sullivan Middle School students also sang patriotic songs such as “I’m Proud to Be an American” and “This Land is Your Land” to commemorate the event.
