Great White Shark Spotted Off San Clemente

Juvenile shark doesn't challenge jaws, but at 8-10 feet, it's enough to get—and keep—your attention.

A juvenile shark, about 8-10 feet in length, swam alongside the Reel Fun off San Clemente on Friday.

It thrilled a group of nine anglers, some of whom described it as similar to watching a whale or dolphin.

The boat is part of the Dana Wharf Sportfishing fleet, and such sightings of a great white are rare.

According to Pete Thomas Outdoors, the juveniles feed on bottom fish, rays and small sharks until they reach about 12 feet, at which point their prey turns to seals and sea lions.
