San Clemente Garden Club to Host Day-Long Bash

Members of the club will sell plants, host artists and floral arrangers and activities for kids Saturday.

The San Clemente Garden Club is hosting its Garden Fest from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the San Clemente Community Center.

Club President Bette Langford said the event will kick off with a seedling sale. She advised potential buyers to show up early, considering there's usually a line out the door by 8 a.m.

Also during the fest, Kris Ethington, a park volunteer and monarch butterfly expert will present information and displays for kids, Langford said. Popcorn and juice will be served.

Floral arrangers will be practicing their craft at the fest, and artists from the San Clemente Art Association will be painting still life images of the blooms.

The San Clemente Garden Club is active around town, maintaining gardens at Park Semper Fi, the San Clemente Civic Center, the San Clemente Pier, the San Clemente Branch Library and Casa Romantica. They also sponsor educational gardens at San Clemente elementary schools, Langford said.
