SC Woman Wins Mt. San Jacinto Photo Contest

The winners have been announced in this year's Mount San Jacinto Natural History Association's annual photo contest.

The winning photographs have been selected in this year's Mount San Jacinto Natural History Association’s annual photo contest, and we have them here to showcase.

According to Lena Zimmerschied, public affairs manager for the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the winners were chosen from 60 entries and will be on display the end of December at the Tramway’s Mountain Station.

The winners are:

  • Grand Prize:   Peter Lapner, Port Richey FL
  • Animal: First Place – Aleta Walther, San Clemente, CA
    • Second Place – Kurt Johnston, Palm Springs, CA
  • Plant: First Place – Sharon Mattern, Palm Desert, CA
    •  Second Place – Kurt Johnston, Palm Springs, CA
  • Scenic: First Place – Tom Gallagher, Redding, CA      
    • Second Place – Aleta Walther, San Clemente, CA

"The Mount San Jacinto Natural History Association is a non-profit corporation which promotes the educational and interpretive activities of California State Parks; produces and makes available to park visitor’s suitable interpretive and educational literature and materials and give all possible aid to the California State Parks for the benefit of the people," a press release announcing the winners states.
