Two grisly accidents captured the most readers at San Clemente Patch this week.

The story of four friends who died in a single-car crash last weekend in San Clemente attracted readers all week, as news of their tragic death spread. It was about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, and five people were speeding down El Camino Real when their car rammed into two light posts and a palm tree, splitting the BMW in half. Only one survived.

The follow-up stories were just as heartbreaking and remained among the most-read stories of the week.

Meanwhile, another accident Monday near the San Clemente Border Patrol checkpoint took the lives of a mother and 4-year-old daughter. Later, we learned that somehow, the mom did not brake before slamming her SUV into the back of a semi truck.

It was a tough week indeed.
