Dancer Johnson says, “Ever since TV re-discovered the beauty of competitive dancing, the activity has grown in the US by leaps and bounds. And so we are preparing a full evening of extraordinary dance performances to thrill attendees at this free fun event to benefit the Boys and Girls Club. We also encourage everyone attending to jump onto the dance floor themselves, after we dancers perform, and as people used to say, ‘cut a rug’ themselves.”

Aileen Brazeau, co-owner of San Clemente Villas believes, “The Boys and Girls Club of the South Coast Area is such a worthy cause because it gets kids started off on a track that directs them towards personal and career success in life. Everyone should visit the Club’s local web site at bgcsca.org and watch the videos and read the case histories there about how the Club helped kids make it in life. As the staff at the Club says, ‘Just one opportunity can make a lasting difference in the life of a child.’”

The dance evening is part of the larger, citywide, spring fundraiser for non-profits called, “Dancing for a Cause,” which is modeled after television's "Dancing With the Stars" and culminates at a May 18 dance-off finale at The Hills Hotel in Laguna Hills.

The finale features dancers representing Sunrise Rotary, San Clemente Rotary, San Clemente Kiwanis, Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area (Mary Johnson), Women's Cancer Research Group and Laura's House.

Johnson and the other five participating dancers will be paired with professionals from South Coast Dancesport in Laguna Hills, including Matt Gregory, Justina Crisp, Stephanie Olson, Katya Marshukova-Gross and Ryan Crutcher.
