Student Showcase Highlights the Works of Young Artists

The ninth Annual Student Art Showcase displays the works of San Clemente's artistic middle and high school students in a month-long installment at Casa Romantica.

Students of San Clemente’s schools showed off their progress in oil, ceramic, charcoal, and other mediums at the ninth Annual Student Art Showcase, which opened Friday at .

Local high school students preformed musical entertainment as well.

The kicked off in the seaside Casa Romantica, which hosted artwork in multiple rooms. The art was separated by age groups, from grade seven through twelve.

Student musicians Thorin Murphy-Fahlgren, Nessa Riazi, and Dominika Geier provided the background entertainment as people strolled from room to room viewing the artwork.

A number of ribbons were awarded various artists, including first- through third-place ribbons, and a Mayor’s Choice presented by Jim Evert and his wife Sharyn.

George Gooch, president of the San Clemente Art Association, awarded additional scholarships for select students’ exceptional work and creativity.
