Singer-songwriter Graham Nash visited San Juan Capistrano this week to kick off an exhibit of his photos at the House of Photographic Art in the historic Forster Mansion.
Nash -- best known for performing with various incarnations of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young -- signed books and prints during his appearance.
He also told Patch the stories behind several of his iconic images:
- In the first video accompanying this article, Nash rhapsodizes about a snapshot of actor Dennis Hopper at the Kentucky Derby, a 1974 self-portrait and a photo of Judy "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" Collins kissing Stephen Stills.
- In video No. 2, he recalls how singer Joni Mitchell persuaded him to show his photography in public, and talks about his jumbo $124,000 photo processing machine.
The Photography of Graham Nash, which showcases 50 of his photos, includes portraits of family, friends and fellow music icons, as well as scenes and cityscapes from his world travels.
At the heart of Nash's photography is what he has described as "that decisive moment when it all comes together in that little rectangle in the viewfinder—it all clicks, and then I click."
