Dear Citizen of San Clemente:

The Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 5th, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Park Semper Fi features patriotic music by the San Clemente High School Chamber Orchestra and comments by guest speaker Col. Nicholas Morano, commanding officer at Camp Pendleton, along with other notable speakers.

Park Semper Fi is there for all of us in San Clemente and is just one of the ways that we show appreciation for our soldiers who protect us worldwide.

It is so encouraging to see how many in San Clemente have already contributed to Park Semper Fi's creation, design and construction. You could say that its mere existence is a testament to the will and generosity of our residents and their respect for our armed forces.

Such a reverent thing of beauty, however, needs constant TLC to stay beautiful on its lovely shelf above the sea. Funds that we receive cover landscaping, replacing of California native plants, sprinkler repair, refurbishment of the bronze statue and wall plaques, lights, replacement of flags, military banners and Park Semper Fi military programs.

The park is also used for military weddings, reenlistment ceremonies, memorials and more. And, most often, for peaceful reflection.

Therefore, we ask of you....please take a moment and venture a donation to the Heritage of San Clemente Foundation, which is entrusted with the maintenance of Park Semper Fi and its stalwart Marine Monument statue.

You can bring your donation to the Saturday Veterans ceremony, or make it online at http://marinemonument.com/form.htm. Even a dollar or two begins to add up when so many are kind enough to donate.

For contributions of $1,000 or more, a nameplate will go on the Donor Wall at Park Semper Fi. Those who contribute $5,000 or more will receive a 15-inch-high replica Marine Statue made of cold-cast bronze, plus a nameplate on the Donor Wall.

But it is not about the amount; it is about the support that YOU can give toward keeping Park Semper Fi in stellar condition now and for many years.

Thank you for your support of Park Semper Fi, and we look forward to seeing you there on Saturday.
