Vigil Postponed for Marine Shot by Deputy

Sunday's candlelight memorial is put on hold at the request of Sgt. Manny Loggins' family, organizer says. Fundraisers begin for his wife and children.

A candlelight memorial for the has been put on hold indefinitely, organizers said.

Originally set for Sunday night outside San Clemente's sheriff station, the vigil was intended as "a profound show of support for the family" of Sgt. Manny Loggins Jr., organizer Yana Pollard said.

But amid worries it could turn into a protest instead of a peaceful memorial -- and in an effort to coordinate with a possible Marine Corps vigil -- Loggins' family asked for a delay, said Pollard, a Mission Viejo resident who worked with the sergeant at a Home Depot store.
