Donovan Frankenreiter Plays Private Show at San Clemente Daphne's

Fast-casual Greek food chain wants to have an indy vibe embodied by surf-folk rocker Frankenreiter and other artists, owner says.

Donavan Frankenreiter, folk singer-guitarist and pro surfer, played an intmate concert for a private party at Daphne's California Greek restaurant--a weirdly hip gathering at the same strip mall as the Albertsons on Pico.

But that's the idea behind Daphne's transformation from ho-hum fast food decor and standard gyros and kebabs. San Clemente investor and surfer said he hopes to make his a hipper place to eat.

"We're trying to position Daphne's as a lifestyle brand, so music is one of the key components," he said. "Donavan is our artist of the month."

Though Thursday's show was a private party for Trefethen's pals, media and some contest winners, the monthly shows will typically be open to the public. They'll host different musicians, rotating around the eight locations in Southern California that have been remodeled and re-branded.
