Editor's Note: This article was updated with new dates for the fundraisers; the restaurant management had to move the originally announced dates forward.
The rapidly-growing Habit Burger restaurant chain will open its San Clemente store Nov. 30, but it will lead up to that with three fundraisers.
The restaurant will open from 12-2 p.m. Nov. 28, during which time 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, said a company spokeswoman. That same day from 5-7 p.m., 100 percent of sales will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs.
Nov. 29, all the sales proceeds from 12-2 p.m. will go to the Friends of San Clemente Beaches, Parks and Recreation.
The new restaurant occupies the space vacated by Carl's Jr. at 638 Camino de los Mares.
The restaurant company in its current iteration started in Santa Barbara in 1969. Along with charbroiled burgers, the chain sells tuna and chicken sandwiches, salads, french fries and onion rings.
Orange County has Habit Burgers in Aliso Viejo, Anaheim Hills, Fullerton, Lake Forest, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa and will have another opening in Irvine before the end of the year.
