PHOTOS: Seafest Draws Thousands to the Pier

The Seafest and chowder cook-off Sunday hosted a large crowd and packed restaurants along Ave. Victoria.

The San Clemente Pier was humming with activity Sunday as the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Seafest and chowder cook-off.

Crowds pack the beach and restaurants like Fisherman's and Sunset's as chowder contestants doled out cups of the thick seafood soup.

Businesses, restaurants and individuals competed in the contest.

Its too bad the Chamber of Commerce had to violate the law by sponsoring a Jim Dahl for City Council exhibit at the pier. The Chamber, who is subsidized by the city, should keep this event nonpartisan and non-political and not turn it in to a political rally for their candidate. It is bad enough that the Chamber uses their subsidized offices as a billboard for Dahl and Mortenson, what about putting up signs for Baker and Hamm, the resident's candidates.
