TOP FOUR Tips for Moving to Another City (Keep This!)

MOVING SOON?

June is finally here – meaning it’s the season for graduations, weddings and job changes which often result in relocation and the need to find a new home. Apartment Guide looked at moving patterns and has identified the top “sister metros” – or where people most often move from and where they move to – along with top searched metros.

In addition, I have included some helpful relocation tips and a corresponding infographic (a visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data) below to help make this somewhat stressful process as smooth as possible.

• Work your networks: Post on your social channels as well as forums such as Apartment Guide’s Certified Resident Ratings & Reviews Service, Better Business Bureau, LinkedIn and Yelp.com to gain input about specific apartment communities.

• Make a relocation budget: There are so many different costs to consider when you move, so you’ll feel more prepared on exactly what to expect in terms of expenses. Take a look at Apartment Guide’s budgeting tips here to get you started.

• Time the relocation appropriately: Keep in mind that certain cities may not have specific units open until much closer to move-in dates, so don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled as your desired moving date approaches.

Job changes, marriages and other family-related reasons are certainly common reasons for relocations. If you’re interested in learning more about why people move, please take a look at the U.S. Census Bureau data below.
