Why Am I Here? To Make Sure You Take the Trip of a Lifetime.

My Story of Traveling The World and Reaching San Clemente.

Why Am I Here?

Why Am I Here in the city of San Clemente, in the country of Abraham Lincoln, Madonna, and The Blues Brothers?

To understand why I am here, one might need to start with where I come from. After all, we all come from some place but it’s only through our own decisions that we may end up somewhere different.

I am here because I was born 28 years, 8 months, 19 days and 14 hours ago. I was born in Bordeaux, a city of 800,000 inhabitants in the South West of France; a city internationally known for its full-bodied red wine; a city known by the French for being very elegant, yet a bit snobbish.

Let’s fast forward to meet me at age 25. There I am, living in London. I had been working as a recruitment consultant--or Headhunter--for the last 3 years. I had reached all my materialistic goals. I had been promoted several times. My sales commissions were rising exponentially every month. I had countless pairs of shoes and clothes. I had bought a condo in France.

Yet, a question kept bugging me: “Is that all? There must be more to life than the accumulation of material possessions. There must be more to life than working hard and earning money. There must be more to life than competition and efficiency.”

It was around that time that a number of events and people came into my life that made me realize that I needed to step off the treadmill for a while.

I had been harboring the secret dream to travel the world for many years, never taking this dream very seriously. The way I had expressed it went like this: “Oh I would love to travel SOME DAY”.

Why Am I Here?

I am here because almost four years ago, I made the decision, with much fear and excitement, that this “Some Day” would become reality.

So, before I could change my mind, I booked my flight tickets to make sure that “Some Day” would become “June 6, 2008,” the day I left old Europe to go backpacking solo around the world for six months.

What a beautiful adventure did I live! I went to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Singapore, Tibet, Nepal, Australia and New Zealand. I loved every second of it. Whilst travelling, I was free, I was light, I felt brave, I was aware and respectful of cultural differences. I was connected not only to life, people, the environment, but also connected to my true self.

Not only did I have the time of my life, I also met my husband on that trip--Steve whose parents live in San Clemente and who himself was a long-term traveler. The detailed story of how we met and how we became a couple deserves to have a story of its own. So I am not going to reveal any of it today.

Why Am I Here?

I am here because after getting married in San Clemente, Steve and I established our business, Bardo Travel Coaching. Guess what? We help people fulfill their dreams of long-term World.

As travel and lifestyle coaches, we support, empower, and hold our clients accountable throughout the planning and realizing of their travel goal, keeping personal transformation and lifestyle balance a priority at all times.

Together, Steve and I have more than 20 years experience travelling, working, volunteering and living abroad in over 30 countries. As a result, we know what it takes to carefully plan a sabbatical or a long-term World travel.

Why Am I Here?

All events and people in my life contributed to me being here tonight. But it would take 28 years, 8 months, 19 days, 13 hours, and 55 minutes to tell you all about it.
