Thick Fog Returns Monday Night

Update: Eerie mist creeps back for Halloween.

No fog machines will be needed to spook up Halloween festivities Monday night. On the heels of Sunday's dense-fog advisory, a cool mist will once again blanket coastal areas in Orange County, according to the National Weather Service.

Thick or patchy fog should roll in by 11 p.m. and burn off by 11 a.m. Tuesday.

As was the case with Sunday's fog alert, visibility might drop to less than a quarter of a mile in some spots, creating treacherous driving conditions on the 5, 73, 405 and 55 freeways, as well as surface streets, forecasters said.
