Former NFL Wide Receiver Titus Young to Appear in Court Tuesday

He is charged with burglary, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer for an alleged struggle with deputies in San Clemente in May.

Former NFL receiver Titus Young will have a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday in Newport Beach. He is charged with burglary, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer for an alleged struggle with deputies in San Clemente in May.

Young, 23, was arrested last month under suspicion of breaking into a San Clemente home. He was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and brief fight with officers, said Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Balicki.

The troubled athlete was also arrested twice in one day in Moreno Valley, just one week before the incident in San Clemente.

First at 12:01 a.m. after an illegal left turn led to him being booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of a substance. After posting bail, he was arrested hours later at 2:22 a.m. that same day and booked for burglary after he was allegedly seen jumping the fence of an impound lot to look for his vehicle.

Young played college football at Boise State, where he had 204 receptions for 3,063 yards and 25 touchdowns in his collegiate career. The wide receiver was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Detroit released him in February.

Young was later claimed by the St. Louis Rams, but they released him only 10 days later.
