and Alzheimer’s Disease
 



A free presentation Wed., March 12th, 5:30pm to 7:30pm, at San Clemente Villas by the Sea, focuses upon
the concerns, tactics and education of those concerned about their own memory
skills, plus care givers, relatives, etc.

Attendees will learn coping strategies, detection, ways to empower
those with dementia, adapting to a loved one’s changing needs, care options and
more.  



The presentation covers many topics, including the differences between
normal memory changes, mild cognitive impairment and early-stage dementia.

The public is invited to come and ask questions of two top geriatric
experts and get their input about modern dementia identification tools,
treatment, and how the San Clemente Villas “Memory Enhancement Program” (MEP)
is state-of-the-art. 



Gerontologist and group leader Jane L. Mahakian, Ph.D., MFT, previous
director of Elder Care Programs at the University of California, San Francisco,
and CEO/founder of Aging Matters, Inc., will be on hand conducting the
workshop. 



Also speaking, is neurologist Dr. Ali Elahi, founder and Medical
Director of the Orange County
Neurology Clinic, Mission Viejo. Dr Elahi is a board
certified Neurologist and a speaker on the PBS Television show, and an author
in medical magazines. 



Dementia describes a brain disorder
that seriously impairs a person’s ability to carry out normal, daily
activities.



Alzheimer’s
disease
 (AD) is most common
form of dementia among older people.



Alzheimer's disease involves the parts of the brain that
control thought, memory, and language. Great advances are being made in the
diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's, but there is presently no cure.
