San Clemente's O'Toole Joins Fight Against Obesity

The Triton Golf Hall of Famer wants to be a role model for the less active.

LPGA star Ryann O’Toole of San Clemente has joined other all-star sports figures in supporting PHIT America –a nonprofit education and advocacy organization designed to combat the nation’s inactivity and obesity crisis.

Founded in January 2013, the organization focuses on overcoming the inactivity pandemic affecting 192 million people across the country, according to a PHIT America press release.

One of the fittest women in golf, O’Toole is dedicated to a strict workout regimen and participates in a range of other sports, including surfing – of course, she’s from San Clemente! – whenever her schedule allows, the release states.

O'Toole is a Triton Golf Hall of Fame inductee, having graduated San Clemente High in 2005.

“As a professional athlete, I’ve made a point to inspire others, not only through golf, but by exercising daily and sticking to a routine,” O’Toole said. “The partnership with PHIT America is crucial in educating the almost 70 percent of the total population that is either obese or overweight.”
