Homeless, Broke or Lonely on Thanksgiving? Come to Brick Pizza!

The owner of the young restaurant hopes to feed 300 to 500 for free on Thanksgiving Day this year.

Brick Pizzeria Chef/Owner David Pratt Tuesday was busily toiling in his kitchen to ready the restaurant not only for the day's lunch and dinner crowds, but also for Thursday's free holiday feast.

Pratt said he hopes to feed 300 to 500 homeless or needy families from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, an effort he wants to make a yearly occurrence at the 6-month-old gourmet pizzeria.

"When I designed the concept for this place, this is something what we'd talked about," Pratt said. "We would really like to give back to the community. I'm sure there'll be other events as well."

The restaurant is also holding a food and donation drive, the proceeds of which will go to San Clemente's Family Assistance Ministries pantry.

On the menu at Brick Thursday will be turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, bread, mashed potatoes and pie.

Most of the food was donated by Brick's year-round vendors, and the pies were donated by the Montage. But the restaurant could use some more of those, if any pastry chefs are reading.

"I'm not sure 20 pies are going to do it," he said.

To make donations or to volunteer at the Thursday feast, call 949-429-1199 or email info@brickpizzeria.com.

I found his announcement on the city website. Hopefully, a bunch of our readers will see it on Patch as well; this article will go out in the newsletter tomorrow. They also have a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/brickpizzeriasanclemente?fref=ts

Well I certainly hope the needy are keeping up with their social media. :) Hate to jest. It is a wonderful sentiment. Truly awesome really, I just hope those in need will have the chance to indulge.

Any chance they'll add back the daily weather in the header? or anywhere? I used to check theRead More Patch daily just for the weather which of course led me to the additional news articles but I honestly don't read it as often now since the weather is not on the 'new look'.

It's being discussed, but it's further down the list. I know we're working on bringing back theRead More comment stream (the quotes people would leave a stories, I always loved that). We're making tweaks everyday, and I think the look is a huge improvement over little blue East Coast houses. ;-)

Arg. So frustrated. I really wanted to read this article, but will not read an article of thisRead More length with *no paragraph breaks*. This is not the first time I've encountered this on The Patch. Very frustrating....actually haven't even looked at The Patch in a bit because last time, same thing. Arg.
