Accidental Outlaws

A father, a son and a rifle.

Liberals in the California Legislature are proposing a host of new gun laws for our state.  Never mind that we have some of the most stringent gun control laws in the nation.  If I only had a bullet for every time we hear, "if it saves only one life".  Liberals can't let a little thing like the second amendment get in the way of how the world should be!

These new gun grabber proposals include prohibitions on loaning a gun, selling a gun to someone you know and detachable magazines.  In a clever bit of wordsmithing the button that is pushed on a gun to release the magazine is being dubbed a "bullet button".  That is scary.

I come from a family of farmers.  It is customary in my culture for a father to give his son his first rifle.  Perhaps gun ownership is seen as nearly as nefarious as going to church by the San Francisco ultra liberal left but it is a right of passage for many of us.

This rifle has a "bullet button" and is very similar to a rifle used in the Vietnam War and is still used in combat today.  I clearly know my son and didn't complete any official paperwork between us.  Someone out there is probably calling SWAT to come get me quicker than a Vichy Frenchman could hand over a Jew to a Nazi.

It is would be ridiculous if it were not so serious.  This American has one last request before being hauled off to a "re-educaton camp".  Please leave us alone.  It really is that simple.  Allow me a plastic bag, my diet soda and a little bit of freedom.

For those wondering what kind of highly dangerous weapon this father gave his son; it was a Ruger 10/22 which has a magazine release and is similar in appearance to the Ruger Mini 14, just smaller.

Now it is off to the store to pick up some 22 calibre ammunition before I have to buy insurance, get another background check and fill out the necessary government tracking paperwork
