PRIDE Learning Center in San Clemente Becomes Certified as a Non-Public Agency (NPA) by the State of California.

PRIDE Learning Center, a leading tutoring company in San Clemente, CA announces its NPA Certification approval from the State Department of Education.

The State of California requires that all agencies, private and public, wishing to contract with a public school district, receive approval and certification by the state for the programs they provide.  Public schools are required to provide a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to special education students.  If a student’s special education needs cannot be met within the student’s district, the district may contract with an approved Non-Public Agency (NPA) for special education and related services.

“Being a non-public agency (NPA) allows public school districts throughout Southern California to start services and contract with PRIDE immediately,” says founder of the company Karina Richland.  “During this process of certification, the state has reviewed all of our programs, as well as the credentials, licenses and qualifications of our staff.  We had to provide the state with substantial documentation regarding such areas as fingerprinting, TB tests, record keeping, licensing, finances, special education credentialing, approved programming and many other state regulations,” states Richland.

PRIDE Learning Center is a leading tutoring company in Los Angeles and Orange County, for students with learning disabilities.  Their reading and comprehension program has been shown to boost student performance almost 2 grade levels in just 3 months.  The Orton-Gillingham instruction develops the underlying reading and comprehension skills necessary for students with dyslexia, auditory processing, visual processing, autism, apraxia, ADHD and other learning challenges.

“We are just so pleased to work together with public school districts to develop appropriate services given through the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).  It is such an honor to be approved by the State Department of Education as a certified non-public agency (NPA),” says owner Karina Richland.
