Alleged Handgun Scare Ends up Being an Airsoft Gun

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a probationer is reportedly found with illegal drugs, a group of suspicious prowlers, and a verbal feud disturbs neighbors.

At 12:04 p.m. Monday Dec. 30, someone called the sheriff’s office to report a suspicious circumstance in the 100 block of Avenida San Luis Rey. The caller claimed a handgun wrapped in a white sweatshirt was sitting in the middle of a parking lot. Deputies arrived only to discover the gun was an airsoft gun.

At 2:40 a.m. Monday Dec. 30, deputies stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Calafia. A known probationer was driving the vehicle. Deputies searched the man and found he was allegedly in possession of illegal drugs. The 39-year-old man was arrested and has since been released from jail.

At 5 a.m. Monday Dec. 30, a caller reported a group of suspicious people in the 200 block of Calle Salida. A group of two to three people parked in front of a residence in a dark car began walking up and down a local cul-de-sac with flashlights.

At 4:01 p.m. Monday Dec. 30, deputies received a call about a disturbance in the 200 block of Canada. A man and a woman were fighting loudly and disturbing neighbors in an apartment complex.

These are selected reports from the San Clemente Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past few days. The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.
