Would-Be Arsonist Tries to Set Fire to Restaurant Kitchen

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a shopping cart spree, a mother-son fight gets intense, and a group of noisy neighbors disturbs residents at midnight.

At 1:04 a.m. Sunday Nov. 10 a worried caller phoned the sheriff’s office to report a suspicious person in the 200 block of Avenida Del Mar. The caller, an employee of a local restaurant, claimed a man had walked into the restaurant and had tried to set the kitchen on fire. The caller also stated the man was being detained and being cooperative. No arrest was made.

Also:

At 3:35 p.m. Sunday Nov. 10, someone reported a disturbance in the 600 block of Camino de Los Mares. The informant claimed three adults were pushing each other around in a shopping cart inside a local parking lot.

At 10:58 p.m. Sunday Nov. 10, a worried caller reported a disturbance in the 600 block of Via Barracuda. The caller claimed two brothers were in a physical fight with their mother. Orange County firefighters were called onto the scene to assist with injuries.

At 12:37 a.m. Monday Nov. 11, deputies received a report of a disturbance in the 1600 block of Calle Las Bolas. The caller claimed neighbors were either partying loudly or in an extremely loud argument.

These are selected reports from the San Clemente Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past few days. The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.
