PHOTO UPDATE: San Clemente Bank of America Robbed, Suspect at Large

Police and FBI are on the lookout for an Asian man who escaped in a gray and black Jeep Cherokee.

Authorities are searching for a man who robbed the San Clemente  on El Camino Real at 9:55 a.m. Thursday.

Witnesses described the suspect as 6 feet tall, Asian—possibly Filipino—in a white beanie with blue trim, a white shirt and gray sweatshirt. He has acne scars on his face and a slender build with broad shoulders, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino.

Amormino said the man walked up to a teller at the bank's branch in the 300 block of South El Camino Real and produced a threatening note.

Witnesses did not see a weapon.

According to the armed security guard who stands outside the main
entrance, the suspect walked out of the bank like nothing had happened, turned the northwest corner of the bank and then started running.

By that time, it was too late for the security guard to do anything.

Amormino said the suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, and drove away in an older model gray and black Jeep Cherokee.

Sheriff's deputies and FBI agents are on the scene investigating. Amormino said the suspect appears to be new to Orange County, so officials are checking to see if he has operated in San Diego County or other areas.

The bank has reopened after being closed for two to three hours.
