Be Careful with Those Cigarette Butts

High winds and low humidity are making for dangerous fire weather in coastal Orange County, the National Weather Service says.

Orange County’s coastal areas, including San Clemente, are under a red-flag warning for fire danger.

The National Weather Service said strong, gusty winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions.”

The danger is compounded, the service reports, because vegetation is extra-dry as a result of little rain this season.

The warning went into effect 3 this morning and is expected to last until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Winds are coming from the east in the 20-30 mph range with occasional gusts up to 60 mph, the National Weather Service reports.

Humidity will drop to 5-10 percent with “poor recovery” overnight, the service says. For more information on being prepared for wildfires visit: http://www.ReadySetGoOC.org.
