Bike Vandals Target Truman Benedict

School officials are calling on sheriff's deputies for help.

Truman Benedict Elementary School has been experiencing a series of bike vandalism, according to a communique from the principal.

In an email sent out to parents today, Heidi Harvey said the school had “another incident of bike tire puncturing this morning.”

The incident happened before school, she said. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has been contacted.

Bikes are locked during school hours, Harvey said. She asked parents to encourage their children to report any information they may have to teachers or the front office.

“The bike racks are visible from a few points on campus and various personnel will be monitoring throughout the morning and afternoon when the racks are unlocked,” Harvey wrote.
