There was no sign of foul play in the death of a 48-year-old homeless man found Sunday night in South San Clemente, said officials from the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Department.
Daniel Brown was found dead in the San Mateo Creek bed under an overpass near the intersection of Avenida San Diego and El Camino Real. Another homeless man found him at 10:18 p.m. Sunday.
San Clemente Police Services initially responded, but San Clemente Police Chief Lt. John Coppock said the body was over the county line, so San Diego authorities took over the investigation.
SD Medical Examiner's Investigator Lenore Aldridge said the death didn't appear to be suspicious, but a cause has not yet been determined. The examiner's department has performed the autopsy, but is awaiting toxicology results, she said.
