CRIME REPORTS: A Rude Hitchhiker and A Meat Thief

Here are various reports pulled from the San Clemente Police Services dispatch log over the past few days.

At 12:45 p.m. Monday, a citizen required the help of a police officer on the 100 block of El Camino Real. A woman wanted to speak with an officer because her neighbor cut her bushes without asking permission while on vacation. Police made no further report. 

At 12:21 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a disturbance on the 300 block of Camino De Estrella. A man had received an email that several people were sleeping on his property at Evanco Realty. Police made no further report. 

At 10:55 a.m. Monday, a caller reported a traffic hazard from the cross streets of south El Camino Real and Avenida Valenica. There was a California Transit Agency worker landscaping along the I-5 freeway and rocks were falling into the road.

At 9:04 p.m. Sunday, a 28 year-old woman was arrested on the 600 block of El Camino Real. The woman had stolen a $50 product from a store. The informant saw the woman take the product off a shelf but realized she did not pay for the product once she had left the store. 

At 8:37 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported suspicious persons on the 2400 block of El Camino Real. There were 10 to 20 people in a camper possibly doing a drug deal, police said.

At 8:25 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a disturbance at the cross streets of Avenida Cabrillo and El Camino Real. There were five men, who the caller said looked gang related, beating on another man in the group. They were loitering, and some of them were believed to live near the 100 block of Avenida Serra. 

At 7:35 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a vandalism in progress from the 600 block of Camino De Los Mares. There were approximately eight minors throwing rocks at the caller's window. One of  windows had broken, and the caller said the minors live next door to him. There was no report of an arrest. 

At 1:15 p.m. Saturday, a 24-year-old man was arrested on the 900 block of Avenida Pico. He had helped a woman steal a bottle of rum from the Albertson’s grocery store. The man has since been released from custody. 

At 6:05 p.m. Friday, a caller reported a robbery in progress from the 900 block of Avenida Pico. A man ran out of the Albertson’s grocery store with a package of meat in his hands. The man was last seen running out of the store with the meat heading towards a jogging trail.

At 11:18 a.m. Friday, a caller reported a trespasser from the first block of Avenida Junipero. The caller had given a male transient a ride and when they arrived to his destination, he refused to leave woman’s car.
