CRIME REPORTS: Drunk Drivers and Lewd Transients.

These are selected reports from the San Clemente Police Services dispatch log throughout the past few days.

At 11:17 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 600 block of Via Merluza. The report stated that a man and a woman were heard in a heated argument. The argument later became physical when the subjects were throwing objects at each other.

At 9:34 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to assist a citizen in the 100 block of Avenida Santiago. The report stated that possible gang members were throwing rocks at the informant’s son. The incident occurred near the San Clemente Pier and there was no report of an arrest. 

At 9:24 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to investigate a person down in the 3800 block of Vista Azul. The report stated that a subject was wrapped up in a blanket in the middle of the street. The subject was later escorted out of the neighborhood.

At 11:36 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a disturbance near the Calle Puente and Canada streets. The informant reported that approximately eight subjects were seen fighting each other. The group walked towards Canada and appeared to continue fighting.

At 6:19 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported a suspicious person near the Avenida Palizada and El Camino Real intersection. The report stated that a drunk transient man was standing on a street corner and exposing himself. The man’s pants appeared to have repeatedly fallen down.

At 11:24 a.m. Sunday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance near the El Portal and El Camino Real intersection. Deputies detained a heavy set man in his 20s who appeared to be intoxicated. The man was harassing people near the 7-Eleven.

At 12:16 a.m. Sunday, a caller reported a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Avenida Palizada. The report stated two men were seen walking down the street checking vehicles for unlocked door. Once of the subjects had an umbrella and was last seen heading towards the beach on Palizada.

At 9:48 p.m. Saturday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 200 block of Avenida Vista Montana. The informant was reportedly disturbed by three men who were intoxicated and yelling in their complex. There was no report of an arrest.

At 9:46 p.m. Saturday, deputies arrested a 27-year-old man for driving intoxicated in the 2800 block of Penasco. The report stated that the driver had caused an accident and was taken into custody with a bail amount of $10,000.

At 2:25 a.m. Saturday, a caller reported a battery in the 100 block of Avenida De La Estrella. The report stated that several intoxicated marines were fighting behind Ole’s Tavern.

At 12:10 a.m. Saturday, deputies arrested a 35-year-old man for driving while intoxicated in the 1800 block of El Camino Real. The subject had passed out in the vehicle while the engine was still running. He was taken into custody and has since been released.
