CRIME REPORTS: Tortilla Hustling and Drunks in Public

Here are various reports pulled from the San Clemente police dispatch services log over the past few days.

At 1:50 a.m. Friday, police investigated a person down near the 100 block of Avenida Mateo. There was a male with lacerations laying behind the Starbucks on El Camino Real. Police did not say if the paramedics were needed. 

At 10:49 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a disturbance from the 2000 Block of Via Mantaraya. There was a group of minors drinking and smoking pot in a closed pool area. Police made no report of an arrest. 

At 8:39 p.m. Thursday, police reported a missing adult from a residence at the 700 block of Camino De Los Mares. A 40 year old male went free diving and has not been seen since 3:00 p.m. The male’s family said he was supposed to be back at 5:30 p.m for a special event that evening. They believed he could have possibly gone to Salt Creek and up to more northern beaches. A dive search was conducted at 9:35 p.m.

At 7:18 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a suspicious person from Pas De Cristobal. A male was seen dragging a passed out woman behind a retaining wall near the railroad tracks by the pier. Police made no further report.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a disturbance from T-Street beach. A woman said a strange man was yelling threats at her and possibly stalking her. A San Clemente City lifeguard saw her from the pier. 

At 2:51 p.m. Thursday, a 43-year-old woman was arrested at the 200 block of Avenida Victoria. When police arrived they saw someone trying to escape from a window. The woman is currently in custody with a bail amount of $50,000.

At 6:39 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a disturbance from the cross streets of Vista Hermosa and Camino Faro. The caller said a subject threw a wet wad of paper the size of a baseball at his car. A 15-year-old boy was later seen carrying an orange plastic bucket on Camino Faro. 

At 8:39 a.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a drunk in public from the 200 block of El Camino Real. A possibly underage man was seen vomiting while on his hands and knees in the Surfin' Donuts parking lot. Police made no further reports. 

A 9:48 a.m. Tuesday, a caller reported illegal peddling from the 100 block of Escalones. A man in a white produce truck was selling tortillas without a permit. People were also upset because he was waking up sleeping children by repeatedly yelling, "Tortillas, tortillas tortillas!"

At 4:32 p.m. Tuesday, a caller made a battery report from the first block of Santa Clara. The callers son was beat up by another kid on his way home from school. The assailant lives on Santa Clara, the caller said. Authorities refused to respond.
