Dumpster Fire, Copper Thieves and Fights

Selected reports from the San Clemente police services dispatch log over the past few days.

At 2:16 a.m. Friday, police assisted firefighters with a medical aid in the 300 block of Ola Vista. Firefighters responded to a man who broke his arm during a fight outside Goodies Tavern. 

At 12:35 a.m. Friday, police arrested a 21-year-old man in the 1700 block of Via Putunia. A Scion filled with young adults shot out a window with a firearm. The type of firearm was not mentioned and a suspect was taken into custody with a bail amount of $20,000. 

At 9:36 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a drunk driver near the Avenida Vista Hermosa and Avenida La Pata intersection. The informant reported seeing a white Toyota Tundra swerving all over the road.

At 6:27 p.m. Thursday, police assisted firefighters near the East Avenida Pico and I-5 freeway intersection. Police arrested a 21-year-old woman on suspicion of setting a fire in a trash bin behind McDonald’s. The woman was taken into custody with a bail amount of $40,000. 

At 3:41 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a disturbance near the East Avenida Pico and Presidio intersection. According to the report, 12 to 15 minors were seen fighting in an alley near Papa John's Pizza. No weapons were seen.

At 3:16 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a grand theft in the 1800 block of El Camino Real. More than $1,000 in copper wire was stolen from a construction worker’s trailer.

At 6:59 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a suspicious person in the 200 block of Avenida Victoria. The informant said several gang-bangers were hanging out and letting their car engines fill the area with fumes

At 5:23 p.m. Wednesday, police arrested a 22-year-old woman in the 3600 block of El Camino Real. A woman was allegedly stealing from the linens closet of the Carmelo Motel. The woman was taken into custody and there was no posted bail amount. 

At 3:54 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 600 block of Avenida Pico. Four boys were throwing trash and changing the television channel in the McDonald’s lobby. The minors left before police arrived.

At 7:06 p.m. Tuesday, police arrested a 33-year-old man in the 1100 block of Calle Del Cerro. According to the report, the man allegedly grabbed his female roommate by the throat and proceeded with a heated verbal argument. Police detained the man and discovered there was a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and there was no posted bail amount.
