CRIME REPORTS: Woman Accused of Pinning Pedestrian in Hit-and-Run

The following are various reports taken from the San Clemente Police Services dispatch log over the past few days.

At 4:58 p.m. Thursday, police arrested Channing Mae Strong, 25, in the 100 block of Avenida Victoria on suspicion of a hit-and-run felony. The woman reportedly rammed a pedestrian against a wall and drove away. The pedestrian told police he knew the woman, according to the dispath log. Firefighters responded to aid the pedestrian. The suspect was driving a small gray Toyota and took off towards the beach. According to the report, it appeared police detained the woman at one of the San Juan Mobile Estate units. Strong has since been released, according to jail records. 

At 4:01 p.m. Thursday, police assisted an outside agency near the Calle Miguel and Avenida Presidio intersection. According to the report, a woman was bitten by a pit bull which was running loose with another small dog. Animal control also responded to the call. 

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a suspicious person on the 900 block of Avenida Pico. A man with an afro haircut was reportedly yelling at a woman in Sally’s Beauty Supply. The was man holding a sign and advertising Cash For Gold. He was disturbing people in the shopping center and one informant told police that "he yells and must have a screw loose.”

At 3:14 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a suspicious person in a vehicle near the Camino Mira Costa and Calle Guaymas intersection. According to the report, the driver of an 18-wheeler was taking a nap in a residential neighborhood. Earlier the vehicle was cited and not occupied. 

At 10:34 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a family disturbance on the 100 block of Avenida Serra. A man’s girlfriend was reportedly pushing him and throwing things around the apartment. There were no weapons or suspected use of narcotics.

At 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a disturbance in the 100 block of Avenida Florencia. According to the report, two female minors were in a heated argument with a man and reportedly slapped, threw a beer can, and refused to give him his property. The man was attempting to retrieve personal items from his girlfriend's residence on Florencia and she got upset. 

At 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a drunk driver near the East Avenida Pico and Camino Vera Cruz intersection. According to the report, the driver of a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Arizona state plates was seen driving very slowly and swerving in and out of traffic lanes. 

At 2:11 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance on the 600 block of Corte Calmo. The informant reported a reddish-haired female minor who was going door to door asking to help her raise money for a trip. The subject would not take no for an answer and was disturbing the neighborhood for at least 30 minutes, according to the report.

At 1:22 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported a petty theft on the 600 block of Camino De Los Mares. The informant reported that an employee of Fratellos restaurant has been taking money from the register.

At 3:46 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported a suspicious circumstance on the 200 block of Avneida Del Mar. The informant reported that his father-in-law was drinking inside a restaurant and planned to drive afterward on a suspended license.
