Fire Damages San Clemente Apartment

The fire broke out around 7:20 p.m. at a three-story building on West El Portal.

A fire damaged a San Clemente apartment building today, but no one was injured, authorities said.

The fire, reported around 7:20 p.m. at a three-story building in the 200 block of West El Portal, broke out in a fireplace chimney chase between floors, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Forty firefighters responded and had the fire under control by 8 p.m., according to the OCFA.
