Vandals Deliberately Break Main Water Lines; One Arrested

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a caller reports a smelly drunk driver, a group of men go on a rampage, and unknown thieves steal shotgun shells from WalMart.

At 11:52 p.m. Sunday Jan. 12, a concerned caller reported a hit and run in the 3000 block of Eminencia del Norte. The caller said a group of unknown people in a vehicle with no plates had driven over a main water line. Deputies arrived to the scene and discovered the group had deliberately run over five water valves in an act of deliberate vandalism. Orange County firefighters shut off the water to prevent further loss. Deputies located the vandals and arrested a 22-year-old man, who has since been released after his bond was posted.

At 10:19 a.m. Sunday Jan. 12, a caller reported a drunken driver in the 100 block of Avenida La Pata. A man who smelled like alcohol got into his car and drove away.

At 2:39 p.m. Sunday Jan. 12, deputies received a call about a theft in the 900 block of Avenida Pico. Two men had stolen a box of shotgun shells from a local WalMart 15 minutes before the call was made. The caller said the thieves were both men in their early 20s but could not provide further details about the alleged suspects.

At 5:06 p.m. Sunday Jan. 12, someone reported a disturbance in the 3100 block of Avenida del Presidente. Five men were smashing trashcans, skateboarding and throwing beer cans near a local building.
