Lexus Slams Skateboarder, Takes Off

A boy went to the hospital after he was hit and dragged by an SUV that ran a stop sign at Ola Vista and Santa Barbara Wednesday.

A child suffered from an apparent broken hip, stomach cuts and scrapes on both arms after a Lexus SUV ran a stop sign, hit the boy and dragged him several yards Wednesday.

The boy was skateboarding at about 1:30 p.m. at the intersection where South Ola Vista becomes Avenida Santa Barbara when witnesses say the gold SUV, bearing Nevada plates, ran a stop sign and smashed into the boy, said San Clemente Police Services Sgt. Scott Kennedy.

The driver then sped off. Paramedics transported the boy to Mission Hospital for his injuries.

No other decriptive information was available, but Kennedy urged anyone with further details to call the police at 949-361-8230.

The kids that were blocking the driver's vision by standing where they were are the ones to say MAYBE the driver ran the stop sign- they are lying to escape their own responsibility of their contribution to the kid's injuries. The kid said he was skateboarding IN the intersection- Townsend is lying about "at the intersection". Did the police give the kid a ticket for riding his skateboard IN the street? Did the kid get a ticket for failing to give the right of way to the car, considering that he was breaking a law by riding the skateboard in the steet. Are the kid's parents the ones that taught the kid to be arrogant in not looking behind him when going into the intersection. Considering that the driver could not see the kid because of his friends and his laying in the street are the parents the ones that should go to jail not the driver?

Bobby's obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. I live on this small residential street, I can see the intersection from my house. Its like any other small residential street, the kids ride their bikes and skateboards there. The sad thing is that if I sit and watch this intersection...less than 20% of drivers stop, a lot don't even slow down. This was obviously the drivers fault completely. Probably thinking that there was no need to obey traffic laws on such a small street. The driver peeling out on him in her haste to flee the scene of the crime tells you all you need to know about where guilt lies in this situation. Typical Vegas driver though...nobody there pays any attention to stop signs. Bobby sound like he has an agenda....sounds like maybe a relative or friend of the driver. Hopefully Police can track him down from his post on this story and find her.

Scott, you clearly are related to the "alleged" victim. How do you "fall" on your skateboard in the middle of street? Is he disabled physically as well as mentally disabled? He is not a child, he is old enough to drive but too disabled to ride a skateboard? This is a cover up by kids breaking the law and getting hurt. You are profiling the driver for being Asian, I will bet you sided with Apple vs Samsung you hater!
