Lexus Slams Skateboarder, Takes Off

A boy went to the hospital after he was hit and dragged by an SUV that ran a stop sign at Ola Vista and Santa Barbara Wednesday.

A child suffered from an apparent broken hip, stomach cuts and scrapes on both arms after a Lexus SUV ran a stop sign, hit the boy and dragged him several yards Wednesday.

The boy was skateboarding at about 1:30 p.m. at the intersection where South Ola Vista becomes Avenida Santa Barbara when witnesses say the gold SUV, bearing Nevada plates, ran a stop sign and smashed into the boy, said San Clemente Police Services Sgt. Scott Kennedy.

The driver then sped off. Paramedics transported the boy to Mission Hospital for his injuries.
