Man Beats Woman with Can and is Arrested

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a suspicious man eyes a register, a man on drugs makes a disturbing return to an office, and a drunk man behind the wheel who can barely stand up.

At 1:58 p.m. Saturday Dec. 28, deputies received a call about a battery  in the 600 block of Camino de Los Mares. A woman had been beaten with a can in the parking in front of a local Big 5 Sporting Goods store and was in the ER for her injuries. Deputies found the abuser and arrested the 52-year-old man. He is currently in custody with a $15,000 bail amount posted.

At 1:12 a.m. Thursday Dec. 26, a caller reported a suspicious person in the 500 block of Avenida Pico. A man who walked into a local store asked for a cup of water, and then loitered for 10 minutes while staring at the register.

At 10:20 a.m. Thursday Dec. 26, someone called the sheriff’s office to report a disturbance in the 600 block of Camino de Los Mares. A man on drugs was disturbing the peace in an office building. The man had been to the office a week prior and had disturbed workers, the caller said.

At 2:12 a.m. Friday Dec. 27, deputies received a call about a drunk driver in the 500 block of Camino De Estrella. A man in a silver Audi had stumbled out of his car and could barely walk up the steps to a house.

These are selected reports from the San Clemente Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past few days. The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.
