Man Stabbed After Chasing Down Burglar

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, burglar at large.

Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man suspected of stabbing a San Clemente resident after burglarizing his home.

Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said that shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a 62-year-old man went outside his home in the 2000 block of Paseo Laro to find a man stacking up items in the garage in preparation to steal them.

The resident told the burglar to stop, Amormino said, and the burglar ran off. The 62-year-old man gave chase and tackled the man. The burglar then stabbed the resident in the legs, stomach and wrists.

If captured, the man would likely face charges of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.

Amormino said people should consider the subject dangerous and call the Orange County Sheriff's Department with any information.

Amormino also advised residents not to give chase, but instead get a good description and call 911.
