Man Suspected of DUI, Assault with Car

A San Clemente man is suspected of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly hitting another man with his car in a bar parking lot.

A San Clemente man was arrested at about 2 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of drunk driving and assaulting another man by intentionally hitting him with his car.

Deputies arrested Tyler James Wilson, 27, at his home after he allegedly drove out of the parking lot at the Red Fox Lounge on El Camino Real and Avenida Victoria; on the way out, he allegedly hit the man with his car.

Wilson, the suspected victim and another person had been in an altercation in the parking lot leading up to Wilson's departure, said Lt. Steve Gil of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The victim had "moderate" injuries, including scrapes and bruises from the impact, Gil said.

Wilson has since been released from jail on his own recognizance, according to jail records.

He'll likely be charged with assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence, Gil said.
