Man Tries to Hide Heroin Under an SUV Seat, But He Wasn't Very Successful

Border Patrol agents find narcotics with an estimated street value of $67,614.

Agents at the Interstate 5 checkpoint near San Clemente on Tuesday discovered three packages of heroin hidden beneath a seat in an SUV.

Agents questioned a 21-year-old male U.S. citizen driving a 2002 Ford Explorer, according to the U.S. Border Patrol. The man indicated he was traveling to Los Angeles.  

After referring him for a secondary inspection, agents found three packages of heroin under the rear seat of the SUV, according to a press release. They also found a small amount of marijuana.

The narcotics are worth an estimated $67,614.

The man was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for federal prosecution. The vehicles were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
