Random Guy Walks up to a Man on Pay Phone, Punches Him

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a man screams at people for no good reason, two men who really hate birds, and a drunk driver gets cuffed.

At 8:47 p.m. Thursday Oct. 17, a confused informant told deputies about a suspicious person in the 500 block of El Camino Real. The caller claimed while he was using a payphone, a random stranger had kicked him in the head. The stranger left, then came back and began punching the man. Deputies arrived and arrested a 31-year-old man. He has since been released from jail.

Also:

At 11:45 a.m. Thursday Oct. 17, a caller told deputies about a disturbance in the 1700 block of Avenida Estacion. A man was screaming nonsense at pedestrians near the San Clemente Train Station.

At 1:32 p.m. Thursday Oct. 17, an informant reported a disturbance near the I-5 Freeway and Camino de Estrella. Two men were shooting pellet guns at birds inside Ocean View Plaza.

At 9:38 p.m. Thursday Oct. 17, a worried informant called the sheriff’s office to report a drunk driver near the cross streets of Camino De Estrella and the I-5 Freeway. The caller claimed the vehicle had been in an accident, and a drunken woman was still driving the damaged vehicle on the freeway. Deputies pulled over the 62-year-old woman and arrested her. She has since been released from jail.
