San Clemente Crime Stats: 2013 Sees 1 Percent Drop

Rapes, auto thefts and robberies were down, but burglaries were up.

While most serious crimes dropped in 2013, one category -- burglaries -- increased so much it moved the totals down only 1 percent year-over-year,  according to statistics provided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Patch asked the department for statistics detailing serious, or Part 1 crimes, which are homicide, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larceny and auto theft.

In 2012, there were 45 assaults reported in San Clemente. In 2013, that number dropped to 32.
