Someone has been leaving porcelain dolls at the homes of families in a gated Talega neighborhood, and it’s really creeping out the parents.

Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that eight families in the Catania tract have received the dolls in the last week.

"It's peculiar, strange and weird and all that stuff," Hallock said. "People are saying the dolls slightly resemble their daughters, which is creepy."

“They have no idea who it is,” Jennifer O’Neill, block captain in the area, told Patch. She sent out an email to residents Wednesday, asking neighbors to look out for one another.

Posts on Facebook have described the dolls as “creepy.”

“Yet another friend got a mysterious (and creepy china) doll on her doorstep today. Anyone else???” asks one Facebook post.

KTLA reports that all the girls living in the targeted homes are around 10 years old and several attend the same elementary school.
